A mouse plague on Eigen

Alp Satteleggli

It was only one week - the shortest time ever - that the Reichenbach family and their animals spent on Eigen, the "Unterstafel" of Alp Satteleggli. For more than one reason. The cold and rainy spring had delayed the departure from Gstaad. And once they arrived on Eigen, a surprise was waiting: Mice had done some damage to the building. Hence when the weather got better and the meadows on Satteleggli had improved significantly they moved up there on Friday, June 11.

The move to Eigen on June 4 had not been pleasant. It rained all day. But that was no reason for little Elija to stay home. He definitely wanted to join the hike - he had gotten permission from the school to take a day off!

For the first time, cows will not be the only animals on Alp Satteleggli. Son Marco had acquired 6 pigs. They will enjoy being fed with the whey from the cheesemaking. Additionally, they are served some barley flour.
