It's a special summer on Alp Heuboden in the canton Glarus. The Tschudi family has moved a mobile saw to the Oberstafel. It will cut wood from their own forest for the big project: a complete rebuild in 2023/24. From the current chalet only the dairy, milk storage, and cheese cellar will remain. The rest will be torn down.
And this is what they build: New and separate barns for calves and pigs that fulfill the newest animal welfare requirements. A chalet with kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. This will give some privacy because currently there are two big rooms for the whole family. And a complete sanitary system that will finally replace the pit toilet.
