It's part of transhumance that you move the animals to different meadows in different altitudes (and then back). In Braunwald, one of the villages that has no car traffic, the Streiff family moved to the highest pastures on July 18. Up there it's really steep, and it can happen throughout the summer in the Alps that animals fall to their death.
